RO-GOURMENT-TRAVELLER

Gourmet Traveller's 2017 Best Restaurants in Australia

As a measure of the state of the country's restaurant scene, the annual Gourmet Traveller Restaurant Awards has few peers. Proudly presented by Vittoria Coffee and Santa Vittoria, the celebrated event took place last night at one of Sydney's newest dining hot spots, Long Chim.

Vittoria customers were among the most decorated restaurants of the evening, including Sepia, which was presented with three stars and named in the Top 5 restaurants in Australia. Eighteen Vittoria customers, from Bentley in Sydney to Wasabi in Noosa were awarded two stars and new additions including The Dolphin and Da Orazio Pizza & Porchetta being award one star.

More than 200 chefs and restauranteurs from around the nation including high profile Australian Personalities Kylie Kwong, Peter Gilmore, Maurice Terzini and John Fink assembled at a preview of Vittoria Coffee customer, Long Chim, the new eatery by Thai authority David Thompson located in Sydney's Angel Place. Thompson decamped from Australia 17 years ago, finding acclaim in Bangkok, London and Singapore. Long Chim Perth debuted last December, but this month marks the chef's glorious return to his hometown.

At the soiree, guests savoured Vittoria-tinis with coffee-infused rum, pineapple and lemon, and Vittoria Secrets with Santa Vittoria Aranciata Rosso, vodka and Aperol. Thompson prepared a spectacular feast showcasing his new menu, with delicacies including chive cakes, chicken larb, minced prawn and pork soup and durian ice-cream.
